Girls Day: The Sound of Electrical Devices
Workshop
Athena Grandis
Karim Nicolae Costan
In this workshop we will explore the world of wireless communication through sound. In the first part, we will address the question of how electronic devices communicate with each other. A theoretical input on transmitters, receivers and electromagnetic waves will be followed by a walk through the neighbourhood, during which the participants will look for the infrastructure that makes this communication possible.
In the second part, we put the theoretical input into practice in a practical project. The participants will build the Elektrosluch developed by Jonáš Gruska. Elektrosluch is a simple, self-built circuit with which the electromagnetic waves of the devices we use every day can be made audible.
The aim of the workshop is to use sound to develop an understanding of the communication technologies that surround us every day and to gain initial experience in assembling circuits and soldering.
